Frequently Asked Questions

How much does therapy cost?

$150 for an initial evaluation

$150 for a 50-60 minute session

$165 for couples therapy

Therapy is a significant investment into your well-being. I offer a free 15-minute consultation for us to both get a feel of  if we will work well together.

How frequently will I need sessions?

Many of my clients attend sessions on a weekly basis. This structure generally allows for greater consistency and support as clients begin processing what has brought them to treatment at that time. As treatment progresses, sessions tend to lessen in frequency to an as needed basis.

Do you take insurance?

Accessibility and equity are important. I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Blue, Carolina Complete Health, and Amerihealth. Before your first appointment, I will call and verify your insurance health benefits on your behalf so that you are informed on what your expected out-of-pocket cost will be before committing to the process.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Cost should not be a barrier for people receiving quality care. I offer a few slots for reduced-fee appointments. Please contact me for availability.

Why do you not accept more insurance?

I am grounded in a decolonized and trauma-informed approach that acknowledges that your symptoms are a consequence of things that have happened to you. The current Eurocentric view of health often relies on the labeling of disorders to understand your symptoms. Insurance companies prescribe to this perspective and require I give you a diagnosis before they reimburse your treatment. This diagnosis goes on your medical health record. Not only does this impact your privacy, but it impacts the flexibility of treatment to integrate more holistic models of health and treatment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointment reserves a slot for you. Cancellations must be made at least 24-hours in advance to avoid a late cancellation fee. The fee is the session’s full rate amount.
