Trauma

Something happened to you and you carry it with you today. Sometimes it presents as anxiety, depression, and even physical pain or discomfort. Other times it shows up in your ability to maintain relationships, low self-esteem, or general feelings of safety. Despite your best efforts to create a purposeful life, the past continues to trouble you.

Healing from trauma is possible. I am trained in a number of trauma-informed approaches that intentionally consider an integrated understanding of well-being. Acknowledging that trauma manifests differently in each individual allows healing personalized to your needs. In doing so, we will also be able to nurture your untapped innate capacity for healing.

Trauma symptoms can manifest after any number of events. I can help with:

  • Childhood abuse/neglect

  • Chronic relational wounds

  • Emotional abuse/neglect

  • Medical trauma

  • Birth/Pregnancy trauma

  • Sexual Assault

  • Secondary trauma

  • Intergenerational trauma

  • Systemic abuse

Together we’ll create a safe environment, where you can explore how these experiences have impacted you. Let’s rewrite your story today.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is an emerging approach that allows us to gently process hidden emotions and memories. Originating from a certified EMDR therapist, it combines EMDR’s deep trauma processing with mind-body integration all under the guidance of a secure attunement from the therapist. Where brainspotting outshines EMDR is that it will allow you to explore the depths of your experiences, without needing to rehash every painful detail.  Instead, the focus will be on finding those special "brainspots" where unresolved emotions reside, illuminating what needs to be acknowledged and released.

In addition to treating trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), brainspotting can be helpful with:

  • Releasing emotions such as shame, loneliness, and abandonment.

  • Reducing sensations of chronic pain and muscle tension.

  • Connecting with spiritual and ancestral resources.

  • Enhancing creativity and performance.

Release your burdens without reliving what happened to you. I am here to walk this path alongside you as you move toward a brighter and more fulfilling future.

Sex Therapy

When playfulness, curiosity, and security is replaced with fear and shame, our sexual well-being is impacted.  Sometimes this discrepancy happens quite suddenly after a significant event, while other times our attunement with self and others slowly erodes over time. Regardless of its origin, I am here to help you revitalize your relationship with intimacy.

My approach is designed to go beyond just addressing physical concerns and contends that sexuality is inherently intertwined with connectedness with others, self-determination, and emotional well-being.  Together, we'll navigate the intricacies of your sexuality, from an inquisitive and inclusive space. With the ultimate goal of helping you gain a deeper understanding of yourself free from shame or stigma.

I can help support you as you work through:

  • Sexual Trauma

  • Sexual Pain

  • Low Sexual Desire and Arousal

  • Performance Anxiety

  • Sexual Avoidance

  • Sexual Identity

  • Shame and Guilt

  • Infidelity

You deserve a joyful and fulfilling intimate life. I'm here to help you reclaim your sexual well-being and find the pleasure and connection you deserve.

Identity Discovery

Our identities are not separate from one another; they are intricately intertwined, informing our experiences, beliefs, and perceptions. My approach to identity counseling is rooted in creating more connections within your life—connection to yourself, to your communities, and to the world around you. We'll work together to foster a deep sense of self-acceptance and empowerment, allowing you to navigate life's complexities with greater confidence and resilience.

To address the disconnection you’re facing we will consider how discrimination, prejudice, and societal pressures have taken a toll on your mental health. I value your experience and believe that through authentic dialogue, you can move toward meaningful change. In therapy, we'll address these challenges with compassion and understanding, providing a safe space to heal and grow. Some areas we may cover:

  • Racial/cultural/sexual/gender identities

  • Intergenerational trauma

  • Migration trauma

  • Microaggressions

  • Internalized racism and other oppressions.

By considering your intersection of identities, we will also uncover the strengths and gifts that arose from your diverse experiences. Together, we'll navigate the complexities of identity, acknowledging how it influences your relationships, self-esteem, and overall well-being.

Life Transitions

Life changes, whether big or small, can impact our mental health, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or even stuck. Whether you're starting a new chapter, adapting to a major life event, or simply seeking a deeper sense of purpose, it's not uncommon to feel overwhelmed by these changes.

Some common life transitions include:

  • Career Changes

  • Transitioning to college

  • Questioning your relationship

  • Marriage

  • Pregnancy

  • Grief/Loss

  • Break up, separation, or divorce

  • Questioning faith

Seeking treatment can make a difference in your ability to thrive during these times of transformation. In our sessions together, we'll explore the changes you’re facing and take notice of the predictable ways in which you respond to challenge and uncertainty. By shedding light on these feelings, we'll also cultivate and expand upon the resources you already possess. Through greater self-awareness, you will be encouraged to approach life with deeper clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Together, we'll navigate life's transitions with courage and grace, empowering you to embrace change and cultivate lasting well-being.
